Carlo Ratti has a background in Architecture and Engineering and currently directs the MIT SENSEable City Lab which explores projects focusing on the real-time city including the well known Copenhagen Wheel, Trash Track, and many others. In 2002 he established the design office carlorattiassociati – Walter Nicolino and Carlo Ratti where they are currently working on an "energy/data harvesting" observation deck for the London Olympics called The Cloud.
