CheerLights is an ioBridge Labs project that allows people’s lights all across the world to synchronize, stay linked based on social networking trends.
It’s a way to connect physical things with social networking experiences and spread cheer at the same time.
In an interview with Wired UK the creator of the project and Co-founder of ioBridge Hans Scharler explains the concept of the project in more detail ”We live in a time and age that we are close because of technology than we have ever been. But, we use it for odd things. I wanted to feel the connections to others. In my mind’s eye, I see lights going on an off and seeing others notice it. Even if it is fleeting, we were connected in that moment. Cheesy, no?”
He added: “I get some satisfaction knowing my lights are in sync with other people’s lights, their apps, and browsers. I am also thrilled with where this could go. Maybe it’s an early warning system, a system where you need everyone to know the same piece of information at relatively the same time.”
We are all connected… #Cheerlights
