Bionym’s premier product, the Nymi, is a wristband that authenticates the identity of the wearer using their ECG (electrocardiogram). Once authenticated, the Nymi is able to communicate the wearer’s identity to nearby devices and systems using Bluetooth Low Energy. The Nymi is effectively a trusted provider of the user’s identity for a variety of applications, including access control, password bypass, and hyper-personalization on smart devices and in smart environments.
The Nymi has been designed to make identity easy – to let devices and services connect with a person’s identity in a secure and privacy-protective manner.
It also features simple gesture recognition and proximity detection, allowing for dynamic and seamless interaction with technology. By putting persistent identity on the body, Bionym is not just the solving security problems of today, but also ushering in a new era of hyper-personalization.
In September of 2013, Bionym launched the Nymi to international attention, being featured in everything from the BBC, to WIRED, to CNN. The Nymi is currently available for preorder with full product release scheduled for early 2014.
