In an hour long video posted today, Tim O’Reilly discusses the intersection of hardware and software that currently defines the Internet of Things. He is joined by Jim Stogdill of O’Reilly Media’s Solid Program, which will host the inaugural Solid Conference in May.

The conversation is sort of a teaser for the kind of topics to be addressed, touching on everything from consumer products to the future of manufacturing in China, open protocols, possible privacy trajectories of the IoT, and more.

“We’re at one of those huge inflection points in the industry,” O’Reilly says. “We’re trying to really draw the big picture of where this movement is going and what it includes.”
