Following the previous month's annoucement of making their service free, Pachube yesterday released the details of a new service focused on "enabling a world of open data devices" called Onboard.
-Aimed at device manufacturers
-The service enables bulk registration and the specifying of data profiles of devices directly onto Pachube.
- Device owners can claim their devices and their data directly on Pachube.
Once the customers have claimed their devices on Pachube and accessed their dashboard they can then harness the rest of the power of platform and:
- export the data for external analysis
- trigger external web services or use Pachube's SMS alert or twitter trigger functions
- use applications at http://apps.pachube.com/
- use 3rd party applications via the Pachube API
- create new applications on top of Current Cost data
