Real World Minecraft Lighting

Giving us a small glimpse into the connected device mashup explosion headed our way, Jim Rutherford and his 10 year old son decided to spend a weekend building a project enabling the day/night clock cycle in their Minecraft game to sync with their Phillips Hue smart light bulb for a little added survival mode atmosphere.

Using the Hue API Rutherford programmed the iPad companion app so that in "the daylight hours, the lights would be on and emitting out a nice daylight colour. while the sun sets and rises, the lights would fade through a cycle of warm colours. And of course when it was night time, the lights would be dark."
