  • Has anyone come up with a list of public (and maybe even proprietary) globally accessible networks that are similar to COSM? I'd like to see such a list I could include on my blog.

  • The risks and challenges are worth listing too. I think it's a good idea to have these statements. Kickstarter could have a lot more restrictions. In time, they probably will as scamming proliferates. Let's hope Kickstarter and the community of backers are able to do a good job identifying the people not quite up to the projects they start and flus...

  • A common model is to connect a device to a cloud service and look at the data by going to a Web page. This has the advantage of being very easy to set up. The disadvantage is that your data is stored at some location away from your control. Mostly, this is not a problem but I can think of many instances where it would be - say sensitive R&D data.
    There needs to be a "private" approach to storage.

  • Are there any attempts at coming up with a standard host/device command/response protocol?

    We came up with something pretty basic (one byte typically) for our devices. I'd be happy to share it if there is an interest.

    I'd like to know about standards. I checked out the Internet of Things Council Web site. No obvious documents anywhere. Maybe this is an IEEE thing.
